Dr. Dawn Berger, PhD In Memoriam
Dawn M. Berger was a licensed clinical psychologist at the private practice of Dr. Kathleen McNulty. She passed away October 28, 2023. Dr. Berger had training in CBT, play therapy, social skills training, EMDR and had experience working with individuals with substance abuse disorders. She was committed to providing a safe space for people to address problems through a therapeutic partnership and agreement on targeted treatment goals. She strived to instill hope and believed in empowering clients towards mental and emotional health. Her training experiences have been in community facilities and within primary care facilities where she provided individual and group therapy to diverse people including children, parents, and individuals of all races, genders and sexual orientations.

Henry Kowal, M.S., CRC
Henry Kowal, M.S., CRC, a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor, has been providing Psycho-Social-Rehabilitative services to a wide array of clients for the past 25 years. Henry Kowal graduated from Boston College and Boston University with Honors. Mr. Kowal has synchronized his knowledge and experiences into a highly individualized and personalized approach to problem solving. He has successfully addressed the needs of individuals, families and groups utilizing a problem focused solution driven approach to all presenting issues. Particular areas of interest include but are not limited to: vocational and career growth, continued professional development, interpersonal relationships and conflict resolution.

Michael Romas, Ph.D
Dr. Romas is a licensed clinical psychologist who has been involved in the support and treatment of persons with developmental , cognitive and emotional challenges for more than 30 years He directs training and professional development for Developmental Disabilities Institute in Smithtown Long Island. Dr. Romas is also a university instructor and a consultant on the subject of dual diagnosis as it pertains to persons with both a developmental disability and mental illness for several of Long Island’s premier hospitals and clinics.
Dr. Romas is a published author in several domains including the subjects of Direct Support Professional motivation during periods of dwindling financial resources and therapeutic alliance as a principal component of adolescent treatment. He is the Chairman of Suffolk County Community College’s Career and Technical Education (CTEA) Local Advisory Council and co-chair of Long Island‘s Training Alliance.
Alexander Osterman, MS, NCC, LPC
Alexander is a National Certified Counselor (NCC) with a master’s degree (MS) in Counseling from the University of Scranton and bachelor’s degree (BA) in Psychology from Fairleigh Dickinson University. He is an exceptional listener, devoted advocate for his clients, and role model to younger peers.
His approach to therapy is eclectic, combining individual psychology with cognitive behavioral therapy.
During his graduate studies, Alexander took many courses including family therapy, counseling and spirituality, and substance abuse. His primary focus area was school counseling. He completed two school counseling internships in three Bergen County public schools. These experiences enabled him to work with children and adolescents coping with anxiety, stress, social and behavioral issues, and academic achievement issues.
Most recently, Alexander has worked with cognitively disabled adults as a vocational rehabilitation counselor. He also has behavior modification experience working regularly with an autistic adolescent for more than six months.
Alexander is a Bergen County native who looks forward to applying his research and counseling skills to help others in the area realize and reach their full potential.

Catherine Steers, MA, LPC, NCC
I am trained in Psychodynamic/psychoanalytic theory.
I also utilize an eclectic approach in my work as a psychotherapist. It is my belief that the therapeutic relationship is the cornerstone for progress, growth and the achievement of holistic health in the therapeutic process.
I received my Master of Counseling at Northwestern University and my bachelor’s degree in psychology from Drew University. For the past ten years I have worked with adolescents and adults in a variety of mental health settings including inpatient, outpatient, and private practice. I am dedicated to encouraging and empowering clients in a safe and non-judgmental space and committed to working with the client to achieve their goals and enhance mental and emotional well-being.
Susan Eichman, MA,LAC,NCC
Susan Eichmann is a Licensed Associate Counselor & a National Certified Counselor (NCC) with a Master’s in Mental Health Counseling from Northwestern University. Susan uses a collaborative, integrated approach with a psychodynamic foundation. She believes in the potential for growth for each individual and in fostering a sense of hope and empowerment through the therapeutic process. Susan exclusively uses Telehealth to provide an effective, meaningful counseling experience for individuals unable to attend in person sessions.
Dr. Alexander (Alex) Cloarec, PhD
Dr. Alex Cloarec is an integrationist at heart, focusing on the fundamental "common factors" of therapy, including empathy, genuineness, instillation of hope, and unconditional respect for his clients, while integrating multiple psychotherapeutic approaches to provide customized treatment in the best interests of his clients. He has a strong focus on therapeutic goals and collaboration with clients to help achieve them. He has been trained and specializes in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), as well as the treatment of substance use, and severe mental illness. He is also especially passionate about helping clients overcome depression, hopelessness, suicidality, anxiety, post-traumatic stress, and helping clients find meaning from their dreams, and more generally, within their lives.
